This past July, a heavily pregnant greyhound named Cinnamon was found dying in the streets. Though her circumstances remain a mystery, multiple puncture wounds across her body leads rescuers to believe that someone stabbed Cinnamon before leaving her to die.
The Dublin Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (DSPCA) stepped in to help the pregnant dog, and just in time. After tending to her wounds, the staff decided she was so far along in her pregnancy that the sooner they could transfer her to a foster home, the better. Enter Sean, Cinnamon’s foster dad, who took on the task of full-time canine caregiver. He knew Cinnamon could have puppies at any time.
It was as if Cinnamon knew motherhood was just around the corner, and all she had to do was hold on. She refused to die out there on the streets. A few days after being rescued by the DSPCA, and one day after Sean took her home, Cinnamon began delivering her miracle litter. 15 hours later, the world welcomed the “Dotey Dozen” of 4 girls and 8 boys: Basil, Chilli, Ginger, Jasmine, Lavender, Nutmeg, Paprika, Pepper, Saffron, Sage, Salt and Wasabi.
